... A New Beginning
"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished; that will be the beginning. ” ― Louis L'Amour
A few months ago I found a card that had that quote on the front. I bought it. For myself.
Needed a little reminder...
I stuck it on my fridge and not a day has gone by that I haven't looked at it and pondered.
I am really quite good at starting things.
Not so great always at finishing... but, I do get there.
Eventually.
Case in point. I just recently got around to tackling the long long list of 'people to send cards to'. I do have a couple boxes full of stationary that I could use. And might should in order to get thru the list faster. But, when I have a vision for something hand-drawn and/or painted by moi, it's hard for me to let go of it.
This blog is intended to be a current look at what i'm up to professionally and artistically. I am choosing this in lieu of a website for a number of reasons not the least of which are that I already know how to use blogger.com (more or less) and my plate is already heaped full of new things to learn and do and otherwise figure out.
Not thinking dessert, either. More like, oh golly I don't know, a steak?
The other reason though is that it gives me opportunity to use my words.
Those who know me, know already how much I love to do that!
And for the prospective clients or colleagues who may choose to find me here. You may as well get to know the real me!
Why not?!
I have come to the conclusion that I am who I am... and you know what? I actually like me and I like what I do.
Of course I hope you do too. Who doesn't want people to like them and appreciate their work? But I learned long ago that what you think of me is really none of my business.
So. That said.
Here are a couple of the cards I've made recently:
This first one was inspired by the blanket on the back of the chair... which was a gift from my friend Kelly for mothers day last year. So, that's a little watercolor of the other chair in my living room. I have taken artistic license with everything except the lampshade... but then, why not?!
This next card was for friends who helped me move last fall. Rhonda and Patrick. Rhonda has carried on the tradition that my mom started many, many years ago. She buys me a bag of candy corn in the fall. And when she does, high fructose corn syrup and sugar aside...
I feel nothing but sweet, sweet love.
From the bottom of my heart I am sending that same sentiment to all of you who continue to believe in me, and to encourage me to pursue my dreams and talents...
with love and gratitude-
susie
